Department of the Interior and Island Green Achieve Accreditation for Investigator Training Program


Island Green Associates is pleased to announce that in partnership with MHCoggins Consulting and the Department of the Interior (DOI) Office of Law Enforcement and Security, we achieved Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) for the DOI Investigator Training Program (ITP) at the November 2016 meeting of the FLETA Board in Glynco, GA. Angela Hrdlicka, CEO, Island Green Associates, who has led successful accreditation efforts within several academies, served as the Accreditation Manager. During her 25-year career in federal law enforcement, Hrdlicka served as a law enforcement trainer, program manager and academy director, a FLETA Assessor and Team Leader, and was Vice-Chair of the FLETA Board for three years. 

The DOI-ITP is designed to meet the training needs of experienced uniformed law enforcement officers as they transition to new positions with investigative responsibilities. The participants are employed by various DOI entities, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Park Police, and tribal departments. DOI-ITP is six weeks long and is a collaboration between DOI and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC). Training includes classroom lecture and scenario-based exercises with role players.

The FLETA Board is the accrediting body for all federal law enforcement training and support programs. To achieve accreditation, agencies submit to an independent review of their academy or program to ensure compliance with the FLETA Standards and Procedures in the areas of Program Administration, Training Staff, Training Development, Training Delivery, and Distance Learning. Accredited agencies are required to submit annual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, when a new and independent review of the academy or program occurs every five years.
